Description
North of the Roslyn, a long gravel road takes you deep into the mountains between highway 2 and interstate 90. There are few rock climbs in this area, although Cathedral Rock would be a notable exception. (Bears Breast is also near this area but should be classed with the Snoqualmie Crest peaks.) The most prominent mountains are the glaciated and gentle giants Hinman and Daniel; a neighboring peak Granite Mountain is accessed from the popular hiking destination Tuck and Robin Lakes with class 2 ascents.
This area is often higher in elevation than Snoqualmie Pass, resulting in a more alpine environment, but as it lies east of the Crest but distant from the Stuart Range there is little sound rock. Aside from those mentioned previously, the Citadel is the only mountain with rock climbing.
Lake Cle Elum supposedly has some old sport crags that are being rebolted and cleaned.
