Description
One of Arkansas's modern climbing meccas, there's not much this tiny, unincorporated town lacks. Home to concentrated boulder fields, steep sport climbs, to super backwoods trad adventures, this place has something for everyone. It is backwoods though, there are no toilets or commodities for miles (though i highly reccommend stocking up at "who-da-thought-it' off hwy 7 if you need something). Stay away from private property, be considerate to the people that live in this town (driving fast kicks up dust!), and remember this area is used by all types of outdoors enthusiasts so share the trail.
Note: you may encounter rednecks if you choose one of the wide open camping zones like font red. Usually there are no issues, but there have been some in the past. There are also lots of hunters that camp out there as well. It's best to just be friendly and respectful; they usually will be too.

Getting There
From Jasper, take Hwy 7 south for about 20 miles. you will pass the turn to Deer (Hwy. 16 W) on your right, then Cowell will be about 2 miles past that on your left.
From Russellville, take Hwy 7 north for about 45 minutes. you will pass turn signs for Lurton (Hwy 123 E) on your right, then you will pass Who-Da-Thought-It and Nellie's Quilt Shop on your left. Cowell is 4 or 5 miles past the quilt shop, on your right.
From either approach, the road you will be turning on is 6560. There is a white house on the south side corner that has signs for tires and barrels for sale. it is a pretty uniquely decorated house. All of the climbing areas listed will be accessed from this road.
