Description
The Flat Tops are a relatively unexplored area for rock climbing by Colorado standards - rightfully so, as most of the rock is choss. Access for the crags here involve travel on dirt roads over long distances - 4WD and high clearance are often necessary. There is limestone, granite, and sandstone. The limestone is typical for the western slope (i.e. mostly bad but occasionally really good). If you’re keen for an adventure and tired of the crowds at Rifle, you might find some hidden gems.
