Suggest adding nearby shower information. While the latest Vogel guides list Coyote Corner in Joshua Tree by the West Entrance, we just went out the North Entrance to 29 Fitness in 29 Palms, 73782 Two Mile Road. 760-361-8010. $5 a shower including towel, open 7 days a week.

Can you add an "additional resource"?

"Joshua Tree Visitors Guide" http://joshuatree.guide

We have a section on climbing - that links directly to your site, see: http://joshuatree.guide/climbing

It would be great if you would link back to our site!

Thanks

OVERVIEW Suggestion
Joshua Tree is a world famous area with thousands of routes, countless boulder problems and a very limited number of campsites. Long popular as a winter destination, it's appeal has only grown throughout the years as climbers of all abilities have discovered the mild temperatures, grippy rock and surreal landscape which make it a must visit area on any climber's list.

Today’s park visitor comes from around the globe, with some here to climb and others simply here to gaze at the wonder. Looky-loos can crowd some areas during the weekends, but that’s part of the park’s mission allowing everyone the opportunity to enjoy the park.

That said, sometimes Joshua Tree's popularity outgrows its carrying capacity, and is often the case, overnight camping can become very scarce, very fast. While the park service has made strides to expand the number of campsites, it has strengthened its rules about the number of campers per site, along with the number of vehicles per site. Current prices of overnight camping can be found [[here]]https://www.nps.gov/jotr/planyourvisit/campgrounds.htm, along with other specific campground information. Other overnight options are listed below.

The fee to enter Joshua Tree is currently [[$30 per vehicle]]https://www.nps.gov/jotr/planyourvisit/fees.htm, which is good for 7 days from the date on the receipt. When time permits, the rangers will check the out-going traffic for valid receipts. An annual Joshua Tree pass ($55) or National Parks pass ($80) are also available, and stand as an excellent value for those visiting the park more often. Both are purchased at the check stations at the entrances to the park. Cash and credit cards are accepted.

The rock itself is quartz monzonite and tends to be fairly solid, but the less traveled and/or newer routes can have the dreaded "ball bearings underfoot syndrome" making those friction moves a tad more dicey. The best rock sports a coating of "desert varnish" or patina which darkens and solidifies the rock appreciably.

Kudos to this page's founding father [[10481]]. In June 2002 the website "climbingjtree" went online.

To whom it may concern,
It would be amazing to have a list of all of the available Guide services added to this page of mountain project.
With the ever growing popularity of outdoor recreation from so many different user groups, I feel guide services give an amazing alternative to not just introduction to beautiful areas like Joshua Tree, they also help further educate the masses on impact, environmental awareness and safety.
I have been climbing religiously in the park for over 20 years and have been guiding there on a professional level for the past 10 and like many have first-hand witnessed the impact I am referring to and how guide services can help.

Permitted guide services in the park:
Golden State Guiding
Vertical Adventures
Cliff Hanger
Climbing life Guides
Mojave Climbing Guides
Joshua Tree Guides
Ground Up Rock Climbing
Stone Adventures

Thank you so much

HOTELS, MOTELS, B&Bs & VACATION HOMES Suggestion

Weekends are crowded during peak season! With its proximity to Los Angeles and San Diego, the Park draws more than 1 million visitors annually. Plan accordingly and have a backup plan if the campgrounds are full. There are numerous inexpensive motels in the nearby towns of Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, and 29 Palms.

Hi, my name is Bill Bjornstad and I work in the office of communications for Joshua Tree National Park. The park recently issued a temporary closure for several climbing areas in rattlesnake canyon due to the presence of nesting raptors. I just put an alert up on the website, nps.gov/jotr, and updated the climbing closure webpage. The temporary closure is effective from April 3 - June 15, 2024. I noticed on a few of your pages, like the rattlesnake canyon climbing webpage and the slatanic area page, you posted "access issue" alerts. Can you update these alerts with the new dates and the closure information on our website? This will help protect the baby eaglets! Thank you. ~Bill william_bjornstad@nps.gov
