Description Suggest change

Nice summit with great views of Denali, Kahiltna Dome, Francis, and the North side of Mount Crosson.

Likely easiest route to the summit is the Southwest aspect skirting climber's left of rock bands and ascending snow slopes to the summit ridge then summit.

A good shake down cruise if other objectives are out of condition. Or, just a fun, scenic day climb from a camp on the Kahiltna.

Point Farine is named after Jacques "Farine" Batkin who perished during the first winter ascent of Denali.  From the AAJ article:

"On January 31, 1967, Jacques (Farine) Batkin, mountaineer from Paris, France, died in an unroped fall into a crevasse while attempting the first winter ascent of Mt. McKinley."

Getting There Suggest change

Most folks fly into the standard airstrip on the Southeast Fork of the Kahiltna (below the north side of Mount Hunter).

Ski (or wallow!) over toward Mount Crosson. A more lonely basecamp for the ascent could be established in the little pocket on the northeast side of Crosson at around 7400 feet (give or take).
