Description Suggest change

Alpine Bouldering (and some sport/trad) located in a little valley on the eastside of Steven's Pass. Smithbrook is home to a few little zones with a couple hundred boulder problems.

Smithbrook is high elevation, which makes it an ideal location for summer bouldering. Snow/rain will envelope the blocks from November-June. But during the scorching summer months, Smithbrook can provide some cool alpine air and mountain shade.

THE CLIMBING: Most of the climbing at Smithbrook is bouldering. The bouldering hosts a multitude of styles, though large roofs are uncommon. Jake and Kyle (developers) are most excited about the awesome highballs that are scattered throughout the zones, but there is plenty of shorter problems for any lowball lovers as well. After some work there is potential for some decent short sport climbs and fun cracks for trad.

Smithbrook has been known about for years and is mentioned in multiple guidebooks, but we figured it would be nice to put the info out there to make it more accessible, since we would not be climbers if not for those who published the guidebooks that allowed us to visit all our favorite climbing areas. We are privileged to have the time and resources to spend discovering areas and putting up routes, and we would like to give back to the community that has given us so much.

Please be respectful of the area. Pack out your trash. Respect summertime burn bans. Clean up after yourself. Brush your ticks.

Bug Warning: Wasps and biting flies can be populous during brief moments in summer. Don't sit on a beehive like Emma did!
