Snoqualmie Pass Area Climbing

Climbing areas near the crest of Snoqualmie Pass on I-90. Plenty of entry-level alpine rock climbs and summits; the main areas are the Commonwealth group (Guye, Snoqualmie, Lundin, Red and Kendall) or the Chair Peak ridge (Kaleetan, Chair, Bryant, Tooth and Denny.) South of the Pass and near Hyak areas have some lesser summits with scrambling approaches. Exit 47 has some sport and TR one-pitch climbs, and several small boulders are being developed.

Rock varies by mountain/area, but be prepared for plenty of chossy alpine rock on many of the peaks - Guye, Red and Chair notably. Exit 47 has some more solid granite.

This is the most popular area in Washington for alpine summit climbing, due to the ease of access, plethora of approach trails, lower-elevation summits and proximity to Seattle; so be ready for crowds on the possibly-scrambled mountains and the Tooth, in particular. However, the rock climbing crags that exist are generally less crowded than Exit 32 or 38.
